Spend the night in an Italian Albergo Diffuso

For Italy fans, this time we would like to present the so-called Alberghi Diffusi in our travel section, which were born out of the idea of revitalizing abandoned villages through tourism.

💚 To this end, parts of the villages were renovated and converted into a scattered (diffuso) hotel with apartments, while retaining the old building fabric and the character of the partly medieval houses and the village. The residential units are located at various sites in the village, often door-to-door with locals.

Other houses are converted into a restaurant, reception and reception area, possibly a grocery store, bakery, etc. This is always done with the local (or newly settled) population.

This allows tourists to get to know Italy in a completely different, much more direct and personal way, saves the villages from decay and creates jobs for the mostly economically disadvantaged regions affected by poverty, unemployment and emigration, for example in Abbruzzo and Friuli. More than 100 villages now exist as Alberghi Diffusi.
