WIDADO takes online second-hand shopping to a new level

New online store launches with re-use goods from over 20 social organizations from all over Austria -WIDADO makes it easy for consumers to buy sustainably and socially

Customers can now browse and conveniently order re-used goods - from clothing and decorations to furniture - at www.widado.com.

WIDADO is an association of social and charitable organizations in Austria. In contrast to purchases from private second-hand businesses, the income generated by WIDADO has added value:

Anyone who buys on WIDADO supports a social cause.

The launch of the online store represents a major joint digitalization step by the organizations. In order to make the diversity of 146 reuse stores available to everyone and everywhere, well-known social enterprises are now offering their products in the WIDADO reuse online store.

These include facilities of nationally known organizations such as Caritas, Volkshilfe and the Red Cross as well as a selection of regional companies such as Soziale Betriebe Kärnten, Iduna, Gwandolina and many more.

WIDADO was developed by the RepaNet re-use network.

"Second-hand is an ever-growing trend, while at the same time e-commerce is on the rise. That is why we are now ushering in a new era for reuse in Austria with the merger of 26 Austrian organizations on WIDADO.

WIDADO is doubly useful: products are kept in circulation for longer and all purchases benefit the organizations." says WIDADO project manager Peter Wagner (RepaNet).

Social Affairs Minister Johannes Rauch underlines the added social value: "WIDADO combines digitalization and the circular economy with the fight against poverty. In this phase of inflation, we need to ensure that people have quick and low-threshold access to the most important goods in as many areas as possible. WIDADO can make a contribution to this."

In order to protect our climate, it is necessary to extend the useful life of products - WIDADO customers thus make a valuable ecological contribution. "Second-hand is quite simply the most resource-conserving form of consumption. Buying second-hand allows me to take responsibility for the environment and future generations. On WIDADO, I can conveniently browse online through re-use stores throughout Austria and shop at the click of a mouse." actress Lilian Klebow says enthusiastically. "Attractive offers for customers are needed for the system change towards a circular economy. WIDADO shows that sustainable consumption does not mean doing without and that ecology can be easily integrated into everyday life." Matthias Neitsch, Managing Director of RepaNet, emphasizes. With today's data, the platform contains over 14,000

products-from clothing and accessories to household goods and furniture.

In addition to Click & Collect, shipping is also available as an option. The convenient delivery option increases the likelihood that products will remain in circulation for longer.

WIDADO is a genuine social circular economy: customers benefit from the colorful and sustainable range of products and services, while people who are disadvantaged in the labor market, such as the long-term unemployed, gain qualifications in this sustainable professional field by entering the e-commerce sector.

WIDADO was developed by RepaNet, the re-use and repair network, as part of the "Donations in kind hub" project. The project pays particular attention to the social participation and inclusion of groups at risk of poverty. The "Sachspendendrehscheibe" project is funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
