Sustainable building: What does that actually mean?

It is obvious that this is about the building materials - but that is by no means all.

By definition, the idea of sustainable building includes the following:

  • Choice of property
  • Architecture
  • Energy
  • Water and
  • Material efficiency
  • resource-saving operation and maintenance
  • Waste avoidance
  • Right up to possible deconstruction or disposal at the end of its useful life.

That sounds very comprehensive.

Anyone who has ever built a house knows that the decisions that lead to the usually horrendous costs incurred are made on the basis of a wide variety of factors - and these are very diverse. Sustainability may not always be at the top of the list.

Among other things, we want to shed light on how higher construction costs have a positive impact on maintenance - because that should be one of the goals.

As you can see from previous articles, the issue of soil sealing is also very close to our hearts and it is very important to us to raise awareness of this in single-family homes too.

It goes without saying that energy efficiency and renewable energies are an important part of sustainability.

For all these reasons, we think the topic is worth focusing on and would like to introduce you to the various aspects of sustainable construction and provide you with valuable tips for your projects. 💚
